The primary focus of the education management team is to create policies and operating structures that meet world class standards of high quality education. The team also coordinates the entire range of school operations to ensure seamless integration of all services and provision.
Due to our international reach GEMS is able to recruit high calibre professionals from around the world. GEMS most valuable resource is our team of dynamic education professionals that steer the high standards of teaching and learning in all GEMS schools.
Regular assessment and training programmes provide employees with opportunities for professional growth and a platform to develop new skills. Additionally, GEMS provides its staff a wide range of professional development opportunities across the network.
These together with a regular programme of assessment and evaluation ensure that all members of the GEMS team in GEMS schools and at the corporate level perform to high professional standards.

Principal / CEO
Mr. Ainsley L. Edgar is the Principal of Our Own English High School, Dubai. He passed his B.A. with English Honours, M.A., English and B.Ed. from Jadavpur University, Calcutta. He then went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Education and thereafter Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. Of the three decades of his teaching experience in educating children, 23 have been in heading schools, out of which 18 years have been as Principal of School’s in the Middle East. Formally, he has been Principal of Indian Embassy School Sanaa, Republic of Yemen, Indian Petrochemical School, Baroda – India and Ideal Indian School, Doha – Qatar. Prior to joining GEMS, he was the Principal of the Indian School Muscat till April 2008.
Mr. Edgar has got an affable nature and believes in serving the student community and teachers at large he has constantly upgraded his skills in order to deepen his insight into modern ways of learning by attending several courses, he has attended the Strategic Leadership Training Programme in IIM, Ahmedabad and a course on ‘Value Education’ conducted by the Asia-Pacific Division of SAI. He has presented papers in Doha, Muscat under the ages of Ministry of Education and at the Global Indian School Conference, Singapore.
Mr. Edgar has served as the Secretary in 2002 and Chairman in 2003 of the Council of CBSE Affiliated School’s in the Gulf. In recognition of his many services to the teaching community the Government of India honoured him with the National Teachers Award in 2003 which he received from President, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on the 5th of September 2004.
He believes that the education programme at Our Own, Dubai is based on the GEMS Core Values, so that our students develop leadership qualities with a global outlook and humanitarian principles that are essential in making them responsible citizens of the world.

Headmistress Mrs. Lalitha Suresh joined OOEHS as Headmistress with an experience of over 21 years in the field of education. For the last 18 years, she has worked with the GEMS Cambridge International School, Dubai and her final post there has been Assistant Principal . She brings her international school experience with her to OOEHS and her main focus here will be student learning and staff development. She has conducted a number of in-service teacher training workshops to enhance student learning. She has also conducted student seminars to help them perform better in examinations and develop quality study skills. Student learning, their health, safety and happiness in school are very important to her.

Supervisor - Grade 11 and 12 Mrs. Usha Balachandran has been associated with the field of education for the last twenty five years in various capacities as Assistant Professor of Economics at Holy Cross college in Trichy, India ; Head of the Economics Department In Delhi Public School, RK Puram, New Delhi and Senior Economics Teacher at Dubai Modern High School prior to her appointment as Supervisor of Grades 11 and 12 at OOEHS,DXB. She has also authored a textbook in Economics for Grade 9.

Supervisor - Grade 9 and 10 Mrs. Susan Marks (M.A, M. Phil), Supervisor of Grades 9 and 10 firmly believes that every step is empowering when a student’s transition begins. She aims to bring to the fore the aspirations, creativity and lateral thinking of her students to help them transcend obstacles. |

Supervisor - Grade 7 and 8 Mrs. Christine de Noronha has been a teacher for well over 20 years, initially in Don Bosco Park Circus, Kolkata, India and later in the Cambridge International School for Girls in Doha,Qatar. Subsequently she was appointed Supervisor ( Grades 1 to 10) of Doha Modern Indian School, in Doha, Qatar where she was responsible for Curriculum Development, Event Management and the Afternoon Self Improvement Programme. She has conducted several teacher training workshops for the ICSE Board, been a keynote speaker at a national seminar for Principals and appeared on ‘Doordarshan’ on the panel of experts in English preparing students for secondary examinations. Mrs. Noronha is an enthusiastic educator with a passionate commitment to all- round development of students. |

Supervisor - Grade 5 and 6 Mrs. Jyoti Jawaharkar ( B.Sc, B.Ed) has over 25 years of experience. Presently, she is the Supervisor for Grades 5 and 6. She is also the coordinator of the Sports and Games Activities in the School. |

Supervisor - Grades 3 and 4 Mrs. Shashikala Naidu, (B.A, B.Ed) has over 19 years in the field of education. She has been at O.O.E.H.S for the last 7 years and is the recipient of the Best Teacher Award for the year 2006. |

Supervisor - Grades 1 and 2 Mrs. Pamela Xavier (B.A, B.Ed ,M.B.A –Education Management) has fourteen years of dedicated service at The Kindergarten Starters, Dubai in both the arts and academic departments. She hopes to fathom great heights in the teaching - learning process using ‘Music’ as an effective tool. |

Supervisor - Kindergarten Shahana Ahmed (B.A in Economics and B.Ed) enjoys a successful tenure of twenty two years with Our Own English High School, Dubai, and Our Own High School, Al Warqa’a as teacher and supervisor. Her creativity, enthusiasm and passion for teaching have earned her Best Teacher’s Award, twice.She has been successful in creating a happy, caring and stimulating learning environment for children to learn through play and interactive activities. She has planned and organized a range of activities at individual and group level, including dance, singing, fancy dress competition and drill display to boost the talents, self esteem and confidence level of the children.Shahana well understands the needs and feelings of young children and those with special needs, and is sensitive to the various cultures they come from. She is successful in establishing a positive relationship with parents and other professionals to identify possible learning difficulties and problems that can interfere with normal development of the child.
Supervisor-Kindergarten (Second Shift)
Mrs.Meenakshi Manohar (M.A, B.Ed) has over 15 years of teaching experience.Presently she is the Supervisor for the second shift of the Kindergarten Department.She is also, the coordinator for the KG Newsletter.She has been at OOEHS for the last 10 years and is the recipient of the Best Teacher Award for the year 2003.
Coordinator -Afternoon Shift, Grade I - IV
Shashikala.C.Rananavare (B.SC., B.Ed) has been working in OOEHS Dubai, since April 2005. She has more than 20 yrs of teaching experience in the ICSE, CBSE and ‘O’ Level Schools. She has a resolute will to add a dash of sparkle of every child’s life and see him / her grow up as a good, sincere, honest and sensitive human being. She is presently the coordinator of the Afternoon Shift, Grade I- IV |
