K S V ELOCUTION CONTEST
The 24th K.S. Varkey Elocution Competition was hosted by Our Own English High, Dubai on the 8th of November, 2008. A total of 21 finalists from 17 participating schools took part. Mr. Venu Rajamony, Consul General of India in Dubai presided over the function. In the finals of this prestigious event, Our Own English High school, Dubai emerged the over-all winners. The winning participants from the Junior, Sub Senior and Senior category who lifted the trophy for ‘Our Own’ were Pooja Vinod, Cindy Rose Mathew and Puja Unni Nair. The winners received individual trophies and air tickets sponsored by Jet Airways.
POOJA WINS SHEIKH HAMDAN AWARD
Pooja Vinod of Our Own English High School , Dubai has been awarded the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for The Distinguished Student in The Basic Education Category[ Grades 1-5] for the year 2007- 2008.
This down to earth and unassuming little girl is a student of Grade 4. Pooja, apart from being at the top spot in academics, has in her collection 40 trophies and over 80 certificates and mementos for winning various competitions held in the UAE as well as in India, in music, dance , public speaking and drawing & painting .
Pooja’s achievements have been reported several times in school magazines and newsletters and by Gulf News Tabloid, Young Times, Indian Newspapers like The Hindu, Indian Express, Mathrubhumi, Desabhimani and newsletter of Dunes Toasmasters, a division of Toastmasters International,USA.
